Monday, 3 February 2014 DAY 653 310 MOON 23 WAXING 23%
I ran the jungle development late in the evening right when the sun was setting. I ran a 5-lap 32:12, which was a personal best. It must have been the vicarious marathon I ran yesterday. The day was too hot to do any other type of activity before sunset. I was able to take a close up photograph of Viena’s moon sliver. The next time we see the moon like this will be on Viena’s 8th birthday. Viena definitely wins the award for most lost teeth on this voyage around the Earth, and she has a few loose teeth now. Both Ezra and Viena have grown so much as well. I can tell Ezra is a little closer to the sky. We talked about visiting an air-conditioned mall today, or just to hop from one air-conditioned Executivo bus to the next. The forecast is for 100F heat again today, continuing all week long. The only way we have to cool off is to take semi-warm showers and drink cold water from the refrigerator. We have been drinking about 20 liters of water a day. I know this, because I am the one walking uphill to the store with the empty bottles. Thankfully, when I carry the full bottles, I walk downhill. We spend 8 Reais per day on bottled water. That comes around 300 Reais per month. I took a bus ride in the morning to the BeiraMar. I spoke with Cayce and he told me about his Austin Brasil Carnival experience with Grandma and Dad-Dad. We leave the week before carnival here. Maybe we will be lucky to see some type of practice carnival. The night is going to be a hot one. Ezra had a difficult time listening. I had a difficult time holding back my words. Ah, the heat!
