Tuesday, 28 January 2014 DAY 647 304 MOON 22 WANING 18%
We did not see any monkeys today, but Viena did find a giant rubber ant on our walk to the flat rock, and she has been trying to scare people with it ever since. We also saw a big bee hive in the making. It was pretty eerie staring straight up at all those busy strange looking bees making a bee hive. The bees looked like yellow white bodied bees. The bee hive looked like a big led lamp hanging from the tree right near the cave. We took our time on the walk and had a picnic on the flat rock. There was a good cool breeze. The sun was hidden most of the time behind a cloudy mountain mist, and we were glad. We could look out on all of Florianópolis. We heard the noises of the jungle, the screeching of the cicadas, the songs of the birds, and a natural rockslide somewhere. Amazing! The jungle is so alive. I wish I had just one person who likes to go and explore in the jungle. Not André. Not Dwana. Well, Dwana would if we had child care. Usually I just need to jungle myself out every month. Just over 3 weeks remaining, so I am probably going to stick with the low-risk adventures. Maybe I will run over to Lagoa today on the trail. We will see. Butterflies. Dragonflies. Orange. Red. Ezra is climbing well through the water chutes of red. However, he was the first one to slide and take a tumble. Oouch! Scratch! And yes, we must move on. Move forward. Progress. Smart Intelligent. Funny. You never see that in a Job application. Yes, I did go for a high-risk run in the jungle and the trail did lead somewhere – right back to where I started from, all over again. And I saw another monkey, a bigger one this time. And I saw white butterflies that led me along the trail and guided me home.
