DAY 237 AFTER THE RAINS FELL

the sky is lavender with ivory clouds that threaten
drops of finger-paints
puddle jumping children clad
in yellow raincoats splash the deeper

THE VERVE PIPE

I arrived home to take Ezra and Viena on a walk down to the Lagoa. The sunset was just moving below the clouds to shine on the water. The water of the lagoa is not appropriate to swim in, but people still swim and the shore has a little bit of sand and grass allows people to walk, run or bike ride along. At night I went to watch Figuirense Futbol team at the Neighbor-Market guy’s house. He has a house on a steep hill that you would not find in Alaska because of the steepness. He has a great view of the Lagoa and the sand-dunes. I sat mostly in silence and listened to the Portuguese being spoken. My understanding has not really improved. I could understand the soccer goal, Although I was mixed up on the teams because the other team was wearing the traditional Zebra Jerseys of Figuira.
