Well, we have visited many hot sunny places, but have been able to escape receiving a good sunburn – not any more. The Dunes of Joaquina are bright when the sun is shining. We took an afternoon walk when the clouds were covering the sun. I asked Viena is she wanted to walk the pokey way through the dunes or along the road. She chose the pokey way through the dunes. Not so bad today because we knew what we were going through. Amazing that over 10 years has elapsed since we walked these dunes and yet they have not changed a bit, thankfully. And yet still the same windy pokey trails that leave you wondering if you have chosen the correct path. Birds, frogs and some creature I could not see kicked up the sand before rushing under the green growth of the vines. Cool little desert flowers. Viena has been so excited about the dunes. She loves the red sled and seems to talk non-stop when we are walking through the dunes. Mostly using Ezra’s name, Ezra this and Ezra that. We walked all the way to Praia Joaquina. Such a nice beach. Nice waves. The water is cold like the California Pacific. Very refreshing with the hot sunshine around. Dwana and I just relaxed and wondered why we traveled around the world when we already new where paradise was. I have so may good memories from here in Lagoa da Conceicao. Such a pleasant place. I hope Florianopolis never changes.
